King's Head Regatta on Sunday?

It's hard to believe that we are half way through our season already. The cancelled regattas have been disappointing and frustrating. The Riverfront Regatta has been rescheduled for Sunday November 6th, so please mark your calendars.

The King's Head Regatta has been rescheduled for this coming Sunday, October 9th! That of course means that we would have a double header:- Housatonic on Saturday and King's Head on Sunday.

At first it seemed too much, but with Monday being a public holiday perhaps its manageable?

We could have a bus take rowers to King's Head, so that parents aren't obliged to two days of travel. The Parent's Association would only take the chuck wagon to Housatonic, rowers would be asked to bring their own lunch (and plenty of food will be available to buy) to King's Head.

Please post your thoughts and ideas in the comments section below.

  1. I think its a great idea, I know my daughter is very keen to recover these "lost" races.

  2. Love the Blog idea!
Can we "assume" that since Kings Head was rescheduled for Sunday that the race will happen? While we can't control Mother Nature, can we contact any race officials regarding Housatonic to see what the conditions are there? There are some issues with regard to getting a bus for Sunday which means we will need to rely on parents for transportation down to PA and back..two
hours each way. Obviously the kids deserve a.chance to race and although it is a three
day weekend that leaves only Monday for schoolwork. Lineups can't be made until rower availability is known so PARENTS please advise Coach Guy if your rower can race Sunday and if you can provide transportation and for how many?

  3. Also love the blog; very "2011"! Lily is also anxious to log some meters, so she's "in!" FYI, here in Harrison, Monday will be another early morning for Theo and Lily, as they are required to march in our town's Columbus Day parade as a graded part of their Band curriculum.... no rest for the weary. In any event, the Lindsay's will be driving to PA (2.5 hours) and can take 3 other rowers if they're willing to drive to Harrison at the crack of doom on Sunday morning.
